Artist Notes:Hunter S. Thompson said he liked to copy entire novels with a typewriter in order to fully experience the movements and thoughts of the writers he revered. I feel the same way about doing old master copies. Through internalizing their forms, methods, and characters, you immerse yourself in the spirit of the artist. For me, creating reproductions is both an a way of loving art and a method of becoming a better artist.
